Lynda Tanaka is an investigator with the ADR Banking Ombuds Office and with the ADR Chambers Ombuds Office. She is also an arbitrator at ADR Chambers on the Statutory Accident Benefits roster. She holds the designations of Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and of Chartered Arbitrator of the ADR Institute of Canada Inc. She practiced law for 30 years and has held leadership positions in provincial adjudicative tribunals. She was Chair of the Licence Appeal Tribunal whose mandate under many statutes includes consumer protection in the context of licensed businesses. Prior to that, she was Chair of the Ontario Racing Commission, the regulator for horse racing in Ontario whose mandate includes ensuring honesty and integrity in the sport and protection of the wagering public. Prior to joining ADR Chambers, she was Executive Chair of the Environment and Land Tribunals Ontario, a cluster of five administrative tribunals, the largest of which are the Assessment Review Board, the Environmental Review Tribunal and the Ontario Municipal Board. She also conducts private mediation and arbitrations focussing on disputes related to land value and development. Her consistent focus has been to ensure that the dispute resolution processes are fair to all those involved in the dispute.
