Ted McDermott is an Investigator with ADR Chambers Banking Ombudsman’s Office. He is also a Mediator and Arbitrator.
Ted McDermott was a senior partner in the law firm of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, one of Canada’s premier law firms, from 1974-2009 when he retired from active practice with the firm. Ted has represented numerous private and public sector employers before various labour relations tribunals, arbitration boards, government committees and in the courts. He has an in-depth knowledge of many areas of the law such as labour and employment law; Human Rights; Workers Privacy Legislation; Pay Equity; management contracts; Health and Safety; Workers Compensation, etc. and has wide experience in, and knowledge of, many areas of business as his clientele covered the spectrum of commerce and industry.
Ted has consistently been named as one of Canada’s top 500 lawyers in Lexpert/American Lawyer Media Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada and as a leading labour and employment lawyer in Canada in several other national and international publications. He has served as Chair of the Provincial and National Labour Sections of the Canadian Bar Association. He has also served on the Board of Directors of a number of private companies in such widely diversified businesses as steel distribution, food services, and printing industries and was recently appointed to the Board of Second Cup Income Fund.
